Need urgent help with a Microsoft Access database?

Ring us. Don’t email.

When an Access database stops working, every minute counts. Whether it’s crashed, corrupted, slowed to a crawl or is stopping staff working, you’ll speak directly to an experienced Access specialist who can assess the problem, explain the options and start work immediately.

No call centres. No ticket queues.

While you’re waiting

Get everyone out of the database. Every write into a database that’s misbehaving makes it harder to put right.

Take a copy of the back end file and leave that copy alone.

Don’t run Compact and Repair on your only copy. It sometimes works. When it doesn’t, it can leave things worse.

Common emergency Access problems

  • Databases that will not open
  • Corruption, and data that’s gone missing
  • Unexpected error messages
  • VBA code failures
  • Slow performance and stability problems
  • Multi-user conflicts and record locking
  • Linked table and network issues
  • Reports and exports failing
  • SQL Server connection problems
  • Urgent changes needed to keep a critical process running

Whether the database was built in-house, by a previous supplier, or years ago by someone long gone, we can usually identify and resolve it quickly.

Have this ready and we can start straight away

  • Who we’re talking to, and what the error says. Read it out, or send a photo of the screen.
  • Remote access. Our remote support tool is a single download, no installation →remote support
  • Someone who can authorise us to go into the system. We need permission in writing before we touch a live database, and an email during the call is enough.
  • A purchase order or order reference, if your organisation needs one. We’d rather sort that afterwards than hold up the fix.

How emergency support works

Call us. Straight through to a Microsoft Access specialist.

Rapid assessment. We work out the likely cause and the fastest route back to working.

Remote assistance. Where appropriate we connect and start investigating during the call.

Recovery and resolution. Restoring service first, tidying up second.

Future protection. Once you’re running again, we’ll tell you why it happened and what stops it recurring →Access health check

You’ll get a straight answer early about whether this is a ten-minute fix or a longer one, rather than an hour of silence.

A failure doesn’t mean a replacement

Most of what goes wrong can be repaired:

  • Corrupted database files
  • Broken forms and reports
  • Missing references
  • VBA errors
  • Network-related failures
  • Linked table problems
  • User access and permissions

Where a file can’t be repaired outright, we recover as many tables and records as possible and merge them into a clean database your existing front end will open, so people can carry on working.

Why CDE Systems

Over 25 years of Access experience. Supporting, developing and improving business-critical database systems since 1999.

Direct access to the people doing the work. Experienced consultants, not a first-line script.

Clear, practical advice. Plain English, aimed at the business problem rather than the technical one.

Legacy and modern. Standalone Access, split databases, SQL Server back ends and integrated business systems.

Independent. We work on systems built by other suppliers, and for organisations who’ve lost access to their original developer.

Is this an emergency?

Ring now if nobody can work, the database won’t open, data has gone missing, or the business has stopped.

It can probably wait until tomorrow if it’s one user, one form, one report, or something that’s been irritating for a fortnight. That’s Access support and development and you’ll get the same people.
